Carrollton, GA - Baseball players are widely known as the “Boys of Summer.” That moniker does not, however, apply to the 2010 West Georgia baseball team, as frigid temperatures in the Carrollton area have made preseason practice difficult, although the Wolves have been practicing nearly every day since January 6.
“Hey, it’s cold outside, but we are still going to get after it,” said first year head coach Skip Fite. “We even practiced while it was snowing last Thursday, but you do what you have to when you are preparing for a 50-plus game season.”
The Wolves open up the 2010 season in just over two weeks, playing host on February 2 to Shorter College at Cole Field.
"We have a talented group of ballplayers, the key will be how they come together as our season begins and develops," said Fite. "The guys are showing up with positive attitudes and have been working hard out here."
Practices will be held weekdays at 2:30 p.m. and practice time varies on weekends. All practice sessions are open to the public. Come out to Cole Field and catch a glimpse of this year's baseball squad as they continue their preparation for the 2010 season.
