Carrollton, GA - The West Georgia Wolves ended the 2009-2010 season with a 57-40 loss to rival Valdosta State at The Complex in Valdosta, Ga. on Saturday night.

Box Score

The game was somewhat of a nail-biter until the 3:44 mark in the second half, when VSU guard Sczeny Hartry hit back-to-back threes and spoiled an upset bid and sealing the game for the Lady Blazers.

The Wolves started the game with back-to-back shots from guard Charlease Williams, giving UWG an early 4-0 lead. On West Georgia's next possession, the Lady Blazers went into a press, hoping to slow down the quick start. That was short lived, as the Wolves' run to start the game extended to 11-1. But, true to form, VSU countered with a 9-0 run of their own to keep the game close.

That run propelled the Lady Blazers to a four-point lead with 3:40 left in the first half.

With time running down on the clock in the opening half, senior guard Renate Lopez buried a three-pointer to tie the game, followed with a shot from forward Anelia Murray to give the Wolves a 25-23 led heading into the locker room for halftime.

Guard Charlease Williams kicked off the second half with a layup that pushed the Wolves led to four. However, with 12:04 left in the game VSU took the led 31-29 and the Lady Blazers never looked back.

This was the final game for three seniors on the Wolves' roster as they finish the season 9-17 and 2-8 in Conference play.
