Carrollton, GA - There are no small or insignificant games. That would be the new mantra for the West Georgia men's basketball team, a squad that is now preparing for a return trip to the Gulf South Conference tournament after missing the event last year for the first time since the mid-90's.
The Wolves head to Southaven, MS and on Friday will have a rematch with the top-ranked Arkansas Tech Wonderboys in the first round of the tournament at the Desoto Civic Center. Tip time is set for 3:45 p.m. EST.

The road to this year's tournament bid starts and stops in Arkadelphia, AR, where the Wolves upended Ouachita Baptist 80-66 on New Year's Day. Less than 24 hours later, West Alabama lost to the Tigers, 58-51, on that same floor. That scenario was where GSC officials had to turn to as a tie-breaker with the 3-7 Wolves and 3-7 Tigers.
West Georgia faced Arkansas Tech earlier this season before the Wonder Boys caught the attention of the nation and vaulted to the No. 1 spot. When the two teams met in Russellville, ATU outlasted the Wolves in an 89-70 victory.
The Wolves are currently 13-14 overall and finished at 3-7 in GSC play. ATU finished the season a 26-1 overall and 13-1 in GSC play.
