Women's Preview
Carrollton, GA - Despite a lackluster beginning to the Gulf South Conference East Division part of the schedule, the West Georgia Wolves find themselves still in position to advance to the GSC tournament at the end of the season heading into the second half of the division schedule.
The Wolves endured a second-straight night this past Saturday where the rim seemed to have a lid, falling 54-38 to the Valdosta State Blazers. West Georgia shot just 19 percent from the field in the opening half and struggled against the VSU press in the second half.
North Alabama enters the week with an 11-11 record on the season, but a 4-1 record in the GSC East, which all-but assures the Lions of a trip to the Gulf South Conference tournament. Despite the strong record, the Lions must contend with the hottest team in the East right now in the VSU Blazers on Thursday evening in Valdosta.
The two teams met earlier this season, locking horns in Florence, AL on January 9. The Lions roared out of the gate, outrebounding West Georgia by a 52-33 margin to take the home victory. As a team, the Wolves shot just 27 percent from the field on the night and 57 percent from the free-throw line.
Up Next: West Georgia hits the road for two straight games, beginning next Saturday in Pensacola, FL, as the Wolves take on the West Florida Argonauts at the UWF Fieldhouse.
