"It gives our student-athletes the opportunity to be able to visit with the children in our public schools and impress upon them the importance of an education," said Senior Associate Athletic Director Eddie Duffey. "Our kids recognize that their performance in the classroom will help them in their careers and we're excited about the opportunity to relay this to the young children in our local school system."
Wolves from the baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball and basketball teams participated in the event, reading to children for a short period of time during the day in their classrooms and in the Carrollton Elementary media center.
Last week, members of the baseball program visited Central Elementary, reading to children in the first grade at that school and speaking to the fifth graders about the importance of education.
