Carrollton, GA – The distinction of being the team leader in both scoring and rebounding has led to honors for a West Georgia Wolves basketball star.

UWG senior forward John Pringle was Tuesday named a second team member of the 2010 All-Gulf South Conference East Division Men’s Basketball Team. He was chosen for the honor in a vote of the head coaches from each division school.

Pringle’s biggest booster is his head coach, Michael Cooney.  “We’re really proud for John and congratulate him on this honor,” said Cooney. “He has done a great job for us the past two years.”

Pringle this season scores at 13.9 points per game clip. He pulls 7.9 rebounds per game, fifth-best in the GSC, and his .463 field goal percentage (150-324) ranks ninth in the conference.

Pringle was last year voted to the All-GSC East Second Team. He is the ninth West Georgia player to earn All-GSC honors in the program’s 26 years at a member of the Gulf South Conference.

West Georgia, 13-14 on the season, returns to action Friday vs. GSC West champion Arkansas Tech in the quarterfinal round of the 2010 Gulf South Conference Tournament. Tip time is 3:45 (EST) from the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss.
