Carrollton, GA - The final GSC stanza in the 2010 UWG baseball season played itself out here Sunday, as the Wolves fell to West Alabama 10-5 in the first game followed by a 9-5 loss in the nightcap.
In the first game, the Wolves pounded out 12 hits, with every UWG player but one collecting at least one hit. Junior

David Buchanan each had two hits apiece.
In the third inning, trailing 4-2, the Wolves had their biggest inning of the first game. Senior

opened things up with a double, then scored two batters later on an error by the UWA second baseman.
With two outs in the inning, Mainor, Buchanan and Hornsby had back-to-back-to-back singles, driving in two runs to give the Wolves a 5-4 lead.
Brett Wright ended the threat with a ground out, but the Wolves left in inning with the lead. Unfortunately for the Wolves, West Alabama added three runs in the fifth and seventh innings to salt away the victory.
West Alabama jumped out early in the second game, scoring four runs in the top of the first, followed by another single run in the second. The Wolves responded with two runs in the bottom of the first and third innings, but the offense kept coming from the Tiger, which put nine runs on the board in the game.
Lillis and catcher
Michael Bridges each had two hits in the second game, with Lillis driving in two of the Wolves five runs in the game.
West Georgia falls to 13-39 overall and 3-11 in GSC East Division play while the Tigers move to 26-17 and 5-9 in the conference. The Wolves close out the season with Georgia Southwestern at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Augusta State at 6 p.m. in the season finale on Wednesday.
