Carrollton, GA – With less than a month until students report to Carrollton for the 2010-11 academic year, West Georgia head coach Scott Groninger continues to add to his first recruiting class. Groninger announced Monday the signing of Shaquana Bleach, a senior transfer from Georgia College & State.

“We are excited to welcome Shaquana,” said Groninger. “She is a solid veteran player who is a proven three-point shooter and a solid student.”

Bleach spent her first two years of collegiate basketball at Truett-McConnell in northern Georgia, enjoying a top career at that institution. She averaged 20 points per game as a freshman and 18.3 points per game as a sophomore, ranking among the top-20 in the nation both years. As a freshman, she was the top three-point shooter in the nation, hitting treys at a 53 percent clip.

At Georgia College & State last season, she was a contributor to the Bobcats’ run to the top of the Peach Belt Conference, seeing action in all 27 games.

“If Shaquana plays to our expectations this year, she will be an important piece of our success,” said Groninger. “We are also happy to have another Georgia product on the roster.”

Bleach prepped at a solid Georgia basketball program, playing at Morrow High in Ellenwood. She joins fellow signees Bianca Sands, Valerie Jones, Monica Williams, Ashley Hampton and Krystal Delph as the bulk of the first signing class for Groninger as well as returning Shunice Hardy from a two-year hiatus. He and assistant coach Rongi Bethea have plans to sign one more player before the beginning of the school year.
