Carrollton, GA – The off-season is nearly over and the time for stepping up to the challenge is upon the
2010 West Georgia Wolves, as three teams report for preseason camp on this week to begin final preparations for the upcoming season.
The Murphy Athletic Building will be a busy place on Thursday and Friday, as the football, volleyball and soccer teams will be checking in on those two days, with all teams set to hit the practice field on Saturday morning.
The preseason practice schedule will be an abbreviated one this year, as University of West Georgia students begin classes next Thursday, August 12.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet all of the 2010-11 West Georgia teams on Saturday, August 21, as the UWG Athletic department will host the first annual Running with the Wolves. Fans are encouraged to join the teams at University Stadium to meet and greet players and coaches for photos, autographs and tours of the stadium press box.
West Georgia soccer has the quickest turnaround to competition, as the Wolves host Emory in an exhibition match on Sunday, August 22 at 7 p.m. at the UWG Athletic Complex. Football will host the first official game of the year on August 28 when Wingate comes to town at 7 p.m. Volleyball has the longest build-up to the season, as the 2010 campaign begins for them on September 3 at the Saint Leo Lion Classic in Saint Leo, FL.
