Carrollton, GA – The countdown to the 2010 football season has seemed like an eternity for the West Georgia Wolves. For 294 days—ever since last year’s season ending defeat at Delta State—players, coaches, and support personnel have been tireless in their preparation and enthusiasm for the new season.
The wait is almost over for coach Daryl Dickey and his Wolves.
West Georgia kicks off the 2010 season Saturday as the Wingate Bulldogs visit University Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

“We are excited about the opener,” says Dickey. “Wingate has an excellent football program, and it will be quite a challenge. But, we have had an excellent fall camp and are looking forward to Saturday and the new season.”
West Georgia returns veteran units on both sides of the ball. Dickey has a total of 19 starters returning, including 17 from last year’s season finale. Most prominent of the group is junior running back Yusuf Holloway, an All-Gulf South Conference selection a year ago and a member of this year’s preseason All-GSC pick this year.
Also back for the Wolves are two, key linemen who missed 2009 due to injury. Center Ukandu Emeonye and defensive tackle Juan Pickett, both redshirt sophomores, are expected to be mainstays up front for the Wolves this season.
