Carrollton, GA - Football season is only two days away, and the West Georgia staff is hard at work in preparing the 2010 squad for Saturday's opener with Wingate. Game time is 7 p.m., but be sure to get in the stadium early for the new and improved pregame show, beginning at approximately 6:40.
Thursday's candidate for Meet the Wolves is senior wide receiver
George Summerset, who is entering his fourth year in the UWG program.
After beginning his career as a running back, Summerset moved to wide receiver in his sophomore season and has been a stalwart at that position since. With solid speed, he is also a threat on any return team.
Last season, he was one of the top receivers for the Wolves, hauling in 15 passes for 241 yards on the year. His average of 16.1 yards per reception was good for second on the team behind
Matt O'Brien. We had a chance to catch up with George just before practice earlier this week.
What is your Major?
Marketing
Why did you choose that?
My mom really wanted me to get into business and I felt like that marketing would suit me best.
What are your thoughts on the season in general?
I feel like, from the offensive side, that we are going to be a much more explosive team. We have brought in a lot of talent and I think we are going to turn a few heads this year.
It is your senior year and the players are talking about a new attitude. What has brought that on?
Really, I think that you have a lot of guys who have gone through the fire together. When coach Dickey got here, it was most freshmen and sophomores on the field, and then sophomores and juniors last year. I think through all of that, our team has really matured and I am excited about getting to show it on the field on Saturday night.
